Char Dham Yatra 2024: 246 Pilgrims Lost Lives, Highest Fatalities in Kedarnath
The state government reported that out of 202 pilgrim fatalities during the Char Dham Yatra, 93 occurred in Kedarnath Dham, followed by 52 in Badrinath Dham, 38 in Yamunotri Dham, and 15 in Gangotri Dham.
Since the Char Dham Yatra started on May 25, health issues have led to several fatalities. Health officials are stepping up efforts to cut down on these deaths and are conducting an audit.
To tackle the health concerns, the government has ramped up the number of health screening centers and medical staff along the Yatra route. Health Secretary R Rajesh Kumar emphasized that the goal is to make sure pilgrims get prompt medical help during emergencies. The state has issued health advisories in 12 different languages, suggesting that pilgrims bring their health records and acclimate themselves before starting the trek. They’ve set up quick evacuation systems using helicopters and ambulances.
To improve medical support, there are now 50 screening centers, and 80 specialists along with 426 doctors have been deployed on the routes. Additional medical staff from nearby areas has also been brought in to ensure thorough support at the relief posts. The state is focused on keeping all pilgrims safe and healthy.
